At St George’s Residential Care Home, wildlife is a popular interest. Over the years we’ve installed bird feeders, bug hotels and welcomed a variety of fascinating creatures into our garden so, when Emily from ZooLab came to visit, our residents were really keen to get involved…

Our visit from the mobile zoo included an interesting presentation about each of the animals including their behaviour, preferred habitat, nutrition and how they are cared for. Charged with a wealth of fascinating facts, the residents were also invited to interact with animals including a snake, giant snail and stick insect.

Animal therapy is proven to benefit people from all walks of life. Connecting with nature boosts mood while helping to reduce the effects of depression and loneliness. We certainly enjoyed the experience and look forward to our next wild encounter!
