Honouring tradition at St George’s

St Piran’s Day is one of our favourite annual celebrations at St George’s! On the 5th of March the city of Truro hosts a parade in honour of our patron saint, and there’s a distinct scent of Cornish pasties in the air. For our residents, it’s the perfect excuse to indulge in freshly baked saffron buns, warm scones, fruity jam, and thick clotted cream…

Located close to the centre of Truro, St George’s Care Home is part of the interesting fabric of this historic city. Constructed in the mid-1800s at a similar time to Truro Cathedral, the building we now call home is brimming with period charm and character. We’re very proud of our Cornish heritage and take every opportunity to celebrate local culture with food, song and stories. Maintaining ties with our local community gives us a sense of connection and belonging that sets us apart from the larger, more corporate, care homes.

If you’d like to pop in for a visit, please call our team on 01872 272554. While we can’t always provide a saffron bun, there’s always a cup of tea and some homemade cake!
