The Year of the Fire Horse at St George’s

This week we celebrated Chinese New Year at St George’s Residential Care Home. Friends and family joined us for the fun, while our talented chefs cooked up a colourful feast to get the party off to a festive start…

Chinese New Year is one of the most important festivals in Asian culture. This February marked the beginning of the Year of the Fire Horse, and we celebrated with a wonderful selection of treats including chicken chop suey, crispy beef, egg fried rice and pancake rolls. While the food was a real treat, sharing it with a wider group of friends and family made it even more memorable.

With just 22 rooms, St George’s Residential Care Home is a cosy home from home for our residents. The family atmosphere is something that sets us apart, and gathering for homecooked meals is an important part of most days. But lively social events are also a special part of our calendar, particularly when they revolve around good food, interesting cultural discussions and a sense of connection to the wider world.
